Inter-Community Civil Rights Journey

Our pilot teen Civil Rights Journey to Montgomery, Alabama happens this June. We are thrilled to be joined by three of our partner organizations: New Era Creative Space of Peekskill, Hitchcock Presbyterian Church of Scarsdale, and Temple Kol Ami of White Plains.

The teens have decided to create a mini documentary film as a reflection of this trip to the birthplace of the civil rights movement. The collaboration among teens active in our four Westchester organizations and with the teen community (ReGeneration) in Montgomery Alabama will be an exciting initiative. 

They will be experiencing the complex nature of American history and using arts as a tool to broaden their creativity, build community across lines of race, religions and region, and learn about the on-going fight for equality and Democracy.
